Nevertheless I find that I still want to read on. He is good at maintaining continual suspense using various sub-plots. The Red Tattoo stuffed full of repetition, padding (especially via the unnecessary red herring route) and ersatz-psycho blather. A 700-page novel that could easily have been reduced to half. We have the other two in the trilogy but they will remain unread.
