Looking back at the road crossing from the mainland and the start of Chesil beach.

Here some Scandinavian student types were carving sculptures in the Portland stone

  1. ha - they're all in France - Pyrenees in particular, it seemed - and Perigord.
tricks of camping - easily forgotten - the first is to remember where one stored one's tent - had to buy a new one - 50gbp, room for four to sleep, canopy to eat under (contre-soleil) and high enough for a 1.85M person to stand upright under - and only 6kg - perfect for a mule, hard for a solo trek, I think, but it solves the dawn wriggle problem painlessly.
Looks like good walking but it's those vertical drops I can't stand.

  2. Gimmer - I think you're going soft, but at our age we're entitled. Getting in and out of my little Terra Nova is like extreme pot holing in the old days.
