Christmas greetings 2025

 Saturday 27th December 2025

Granddaughter Katie organised a painting competition for us on Boxing Day.

A Bob Ross video was played on Katie's laptop. An extensive range of oil paints and brushes were supplied. Suitable Bob Ross headgear was donned, and off we went. Unfortunately I was seated to one side and soon lost track of the video and launched off onto my own creation.

Mum and Katie made a good attempt at following the instructions and finished up with passable results but I reckon my effort owed more to Jackson Pollok

BOXING DAY

It all became more chaotic and good fun as we progressed

Paint everywhere. We had paper table cloth which double up as our palette

Katie was undoubtedly the winner

Not bad from Mum

  1. That looks like a great Christmas.
I had never heard of Rob Ross but I assume he has a flmboyant hairstyle.
    A valiant third place.

  2. BC - BOB Ross. He developed a clever oil painting technique posting step by step tutorials on You tube. He posted perhaps hundreds of episodes and became vary popular enabling the most amateur of artists to achieve some decent results, but of course frowned upon by the more serious art critics. Bob had an endearing verbal presentation with friendly and encouraging repartee. It's worth just viewing at least one video on YouTube to get the idea. Bob died a few years go but left us this legacy.

    1. Just a small correction to what you've said there: Bob Ross died some years before YouTube existed - he was a mainstream TV star, some of whose episodes have now made their way to YouTube. So many of his programmes had the same ingredients, yet they're easy viewing; we watched lots of them on BBC4(?maybe 3) in 2020.

Never mind how entertaining a Boxing Day activity this was for you, Jill & Katie, the photos of you all in your wigs gave us a good giggle.

  6. Gayle - thanks for your correction. I knew I had originally seem Bob R somewhere other than You Tube but memory had faded.
