TO ALL READERS
I am having computer problems at the moment and it is causing difficulty with comment postings. I hope to get it sorted. You may find a way of posting comments with your identity, but if not it does seem possible to comment as "Anonymous" and if you do that it would be helpful to identify yourself in the text.
Thanks.
C.
Just a thought: if you’re using Safari, you need to disable “Prevent cross-site tracking” to sign in with a Google account, even if you’re signed in already.
ReplyDeleteIt is Google Conrad and not a computer fault. Michael in the above comment is quite correct. I am also at fault for sending before I realise I am anonymous.
ReplyDeleteHere is the link to the maps. https://maps.nls.uk
ReplyDeleteMichael Leddi - Thsmks for that. Where do you find Cross Site Tracking? I've looked right through Settings in Blogger Dashboard. My big problem at the moment is that I'm in progress with sorting my iMac with Apple Help. They have created a new User account because my MiMac had been running very very slowly. We will progress further with this today I hope, but for now my files (documents, photos etc.) are not in the newUser version. Also it is not recognising me as the User and I sm having to input my blogger address and email every tome I reply to a comment. but all work in progress t the moment.
ReplyDeleteMichael Leddy - I've found it now and disabled. We will see.
ReplyDeleteMichael Leddy - Well, that worked for me. I'm not sure if it will help my commenters. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI discovered this some time ago but always turn ‘Prevent cross-site tracking’ back on after commenting.
ReplyDeleteafoot - do you understand in simple terms what are the implications of you leave it on?
ReplyDeleteHi Conrad - Enabling Cross-Site Tracking restricts data sharing across different websites by removing cookies and website data. If you disable it, stored cookies and website data can be used to identify you for authentication purposes - among other things. I assume this authentication is required by Blogger to allow a comment from an account holder. Leaving it enabled at all times allows companies to track your browsing habits and target advertising, for example. It’s a privacy issue really.
ReplyDeleteSorry - first sentence should begin Enabling ‘Prevent Cross-Site Tracking’.
DeleteJust seeing if | can still comment using BC.
ReplyDeleteWordpress throws up similar problems from time to time. I always assume it's me at fault.
Gotta see if I appear as your older brother or as the Ghost of Christmas Past. Click Publish and...
ReplyDeleteEasy peasy it seems.
ReplyDeleteAll - Looks good now. But what a mundane way to get more comments after months of very few.
ReplyDeleteMy iMac is now running fine again thanks to Apple Help - they are above and beyond - one three hour session and another two hours next day. I have now downloaded the Mac version of Memory Map to take over from the Windows PC version running on Windows 10 and Parallels software. My next mission is to uninstall the whole of the virtual PC and reclaim the partitioned part of my hard disk for the Mac.
Memory Map for Mac is superb. The only feature not available compared with PC MM is the 3D drive through which is of no interest to me. All the other menu controls have been made more accessible and I now have up to date, 2024 OS GB 1:25 and 1:50 Great Britain on my desktop and on my iPhone. There may be other missing features but everything that I want is there. Should have done tihs a long time go. The bundle was on offer at £99.00 - worth every penny.
as I've been 'out of the loop' - what was wrong with your iMac ?
ReplyDeletegimmer - replied by phone call.
ReplyDeleteWell done Conrad, I'm glad you seem to be sorting this out. I know from recent experience that computer issues like this can be draining and depressing.
ReplyDeletePhreerunner - For me part of the trouble with tech. is that I find out how to do something then next time I need it I've forgotten.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling. I had a very simple issue yesterday. Thankfully a couple of calls to the local computer shop sorted it out for no cost.
